It's been so long since I used it that I don't recall exactly how the monitor routing goes, I'd need to play w/ it for a bit to recall. What is coming out of the headphone or monitor jacks on the 424 are not necessarily what's coming out of the line out jacks. I would also suggest monitoring the from mixdown deck, not the 424 you'll be hearing what the mixdown deck is hearing. It sounds like you're mixing down to stereo, correct? You want to come out of the 424 using the 'line output' rca jacks on the top of the 424. Not really what I want to do This is not my first 4 track and I am not that daft but somehow I feel like I must be missing something. Its making me crazy!! Help me out!Īfter re-reading your post & checking out my 424 (and a night of music & libations), I think I can help. If something is broken I guess I will have to mix down from the headphone jack as a last resort. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. If I put all the faders down on the Tascam including the master I still get a signal in the monitors and on the mixdown deck, however my headphones are silent. The signal coming out of the mixdown deck and its monitors is just the original mix from the 4 track- no change in levels, paning, no eq possible. The problem is as follows: I cannot regulate the channel levels or the eq on the tracks going out from the RCA jacks in the back of the Tascam to my mixdown deck, however I can hear my changes (panning, eq, etc.) in my headphones. I just bought a used Tascam 424 4- track which seemed to be working great up untill I tried to mix down my recording from the tascam to my mixdown deck.
